Caroline Pacula Photography

Intentionally Collected

September 10, 2026

Last year, I took a Feng Shui course with Amanda Gibby Peters, whose approach to creating intentional spaces resonated deeply with me. Among the many things I learned was something that felt wonderfully familiar: our surroundings have the ability to influence how we feel.

Intentionality has been at the heart of my curatorial practice for the past ten years. I have always believed that choosing art for a home is about much more than finding something beautiful to fill a wall. It is about considering how a piece makes you feel, what it brings into a room, and how you want to experience that space every day.

This photograph by Caroline Pacula is a beautiful example. Chosen for my client's Malibu home, its quiet horizon and ethereal palette bring a sense of calm to the room. There is something grounding about it, a softness and stillness that seems especially at home near the ocean.

The course encouraged me to think even more consciously about the energy we create within our homes. Art can enliven a room, create movement, inspire curiosity, or offer a moment of respite. Sometimes the right piece does several of those things at once.

For me, that is where Feng Shui and thoughtful art curation beautifully intersect. A well-curated home isn't simply about what we see. It's about how we feel when we're in it.

And perhaps that is the most meaningful form of intentional design.
